Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Champion Ellis Jr. and Josh Morales Lead Jersey Village to Victory

Jersey Village's game on Wednesday was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against the Memorial Mustangs by a score of 60-48. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 36-35 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Jersey Village to victory were Josh Morales and Champion Ellis Jr.. Morales went 7 of 12 from beyond the arc on his way to 25 points, while Ellis Jr. dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Morales a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cason Hall, who posted seven points.

Jersey Village was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Jersey Village is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Memorial, they dropped their record down to 8-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Jersey Village will head out to challenge Cypress Creek at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cypress Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Jersey Village likes a good challenge. As for Memorial, they will face off against Stratford at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
