Softball Recap: Norway Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Norway waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Bark River-Harris Broncos as they made off with a 19-3 victory. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Kendall Burklund was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Paquette, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Tessa Castelaz was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Norway hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Norway's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Bark River-Harris, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Norway will face off against Munising at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bark River-Harris, they will square off against Stephenson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
