Softball Recap: Southern Choctaw Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Southern Choctaw made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sweet Water, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Indians beat the Bulldogs on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-3. Considering the Indians have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gabby Land spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, Keri McGee and Emerald Dunigan did most of the damage at the plate: McGee went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Dunigan got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three runs.

The win (which was Southern Choctaw's third in a row) raised their record to 11-7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sweet Water, they dropped their record down to 8-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Southern Choctaw will venture away from home to take on Marengo at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sweet Water will be paying especially close attention to the Indians' game: after the Indians faces off against the Panthers, they'll take on Sweet Water again at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
