Baseball Recap: Mount Calvary Christian Continues Home Dominance on Monday

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mount Calvary Christian had no problem doing just that on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Conestoga Christian Cougars. Considering the Chargers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

David Zamora was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonathan Hubler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Ben Gerlach was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Mount Calvary Christian pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs across that stretch. As for Conestoga Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.

As of now, neither Mount Calvary Christian nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
