            Softball Recap: Mission Bay Buccaneers vs. Mayfield Cubs        
        
		
        
        
            After losing to Mayfield the last time they met, Mission Bay decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Mission Bay Buccaneers walked away with  a   4-1  win over the Mayfield Cubs  on Saturday. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for the Buccaneers.
 Abby Nelson and  Evie Horton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound,  Nelson   tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Meanwhile,  Horton   tossed three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. That's the fewest  hits  she has allowed since back in April of 2024. At bat,  Nelson  went a perfect 2-for-2 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI, while  Horton  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-2. That  home run marked the first that  Nelson  launched this season.

Mission Bay now  has a winning record of 4-3. As for Mayfield, they now  have a losing record of 3-4-1.
 Mission Bay will be staying on the road  on Saturday to face off against Canyon Crest Academy at 12:30  p.m. Mission Bay's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7  runs per game  this season, so Canyon Crest Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. We've got a battle between Cubs coming up.
