Softball Recap: Verrado Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Verrado has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 2.59 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 23-10 margin over the Youngker Roughriders. The result was nothing new for the Vipers, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Verrado got a massive performance out of Sanaa Holliday, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Holliday a new career-high. Lee Houston also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Holliday wasn't the only one making solid contact: Verrado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Verrado's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Youngker, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Verrado will have a chance to go back-to-back against Youngker: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
