Basketball Recap: American Leadership Academy-Johnston Comes Up Short

American Leadership Academy-Johnston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the St. Mary's Saints, falling 65-7. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-6 back in December of 2024.

St. Mary's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janelle Gyampo, who posted six points in addition to seven boards and four blocks. Gyampo is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Beatrice Duffy, who put up 12 points.

American Leadership Academy-Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for St. Mary's, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-4.

American Leadership Academy-Johnston has already played their next match (against Wilson Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Mary's didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-35 defeat against NC GBB Academy on the 20th.
