Football Recap: Marathon Takes a Loss

Marathon and Auburndale pushed the score to 45-14 the last time they played Auburndale, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Red Raiders fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 14-12. The loss continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost eight in a row.

Marathon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Auburndale, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Marathon will challenge Loyal/Greenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Auburndale, they will take on Edgar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season.
