Baseball Recap: Destin Takes a Loss

Destin blew Lighthouse Private Christian Academy out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Lighthouse Private Christian Academy got their revenge. The Destin Sharks fell just short of the Lighthouse Private Christian Academy Stingrays by a score of 5-3. It was the first time this season that the Sharks let down their fans at home.

Vance Kirby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Destin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxx Emmert, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Destin is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7. As for Lighthouse Private Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Destin will head out to square off against Franklin County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lighthouse Private Christian Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on Aletheia Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
