Softball Preview: Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers vs. Shiocton Chiefs
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers will head out to take on the Shiocton Chiefs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Almond-Bancroft, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Chargers had just enough and edged out the Eagles 8-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood let Rory Salvesen and Sophia Lemieux run wild. Salvesen got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Lemieux went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The Chiefs narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Thunderbirds 5-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Chiefs as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood's record now sits at 13-9. As for Shiocton, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-8.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood took their win against Shiocton when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
