Baseball Recap: Weir Comes Up Short

Weir fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Beaver Local on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Beavers by a score of 4-3. The Red Riders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Beavers earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Teddy Glyptis was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Weir: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 11-15 otherwise.

Weir dropped their record down to 14-16 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Beaver Local, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Weir will host Tyler at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Beaver Local, they will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Oak Glen at 5:00 p.m.
