Baseball Recap: Whitney's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Whitney and Oak Ridge, and Whitney kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats walked away with a 5-2 win over the Trojans on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Braeden Jenest spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Whitney's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 2-7 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Bryce Farris was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

Whitney's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Oak Ridge, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-9.

Whitney will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
