Waterloo has gone 8-2 against Cambridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Pirates will head out to challenge the Bluejays at 5:00 p.m. Waterloo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Waterloo took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Columbus, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pirates narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cardinals 5-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Pirates, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Ally Schaumann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emma Baumann was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Alix McCarthy also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Cambridge didn't have quite enough to beat Fort Atkinson on Monday and fell 5-3. The Bluejays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cambridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Waterloo, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Waterloo took their win against Cambridge in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
