Softball Recap: La Jolla Vikings vs. Madison Warhawks

Maddie Ehlert was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
On Madison's side, Sophia Martinez Ornelas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ornelas was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with a home run and five RBI.
In other batting news, Nevaeh Haley was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Zekyrah Chambers, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
La Jolla's loss dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Madison, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-8-1.
La Jolla will be playing in front of their home fans against Coronado at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. La Jolla has given up an average of 17.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Madison, they are on the road again on Thursday to play Morse at 4:00 p.m. Morse is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Madison a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
