Basketball Recap: Mariner Comes Up Short

Mariner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ida Baker Bulldogs. If the Tritons were looking for revenge after losing 57-38 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Maia Berdebes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ida Baker, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 16 boards. The matchup was Berdebes' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Hernandez-Castro, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Mariner's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Ida Baker, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-13.

Mariner will square off against Fort Myers on Tuesday. Ida Baker has already played their next contest, a 48-37 defeat against Lemon Bay on the 29th.
