Volleyball Recap: Joselaine Jimenez Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Westport

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Diman RVT and Westport, and Diman RVT kept the tradition alive. The Bengals were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Wildcats on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Bengals: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in September, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

While Diman RVT won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-20, 25-21.

Diman RVT got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Joselaine Jimenez out in front who had 20 digs and one assist. Jimenez is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 13 every time she's taken the court this season.

Diman RVT was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 16 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Diman RVT's win ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 6-6. As for Westport, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Diman RVT will square off against Southeastern RVT at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bengals are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Westport, they will face off against Holbrook at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
