Baseball Game Preview: Grace Lancers vs. Bishop Diego Cardinals

For the second straight game, Grace will face off against Bishop Diego. The Lancers will head out to take on the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Grace is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Grace's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Bishop Diego as they made off with a 19-0 win. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Alex Van made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Grace: the team is 4-0-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 2-3-1 otherwise. Van was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Grace let Daniel Morlett and Jack Mazza run wild. Morlett scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Mazza scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, Morlett posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Willis, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Grace was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Bishop Diego is on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. As for Grace, their record now sits at 6-3-2.
