Oakland came tearing into Sunday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wayne County Wildcats a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Patriots have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Sunday's blowout was nothing new.

Kyleigh Higgs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Taylor Minnick was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jada Ellison was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Oakland's win bumped their record up to 9-2-1.

Coming up, Oakland will be taking part in a tournament against North Jackson at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. Wayne County is facing Lawrence County at the right time seeing as Lawrence County is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
