Basketball Recap: Allison Zelinko Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Breckenridge

St. Charles had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down the Breckenridge Huskies 39-24 on Wednesday. The 39-point effort marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

St. Charles' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allison Zelinko, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Zelinko is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nicole Zelinko, who posted 13 points and four steals.

St. Charles' win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Breckenridge, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Charles has already played their next contest (against Montabella), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Breckenridge will face off against Coleman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
