Soccer Game Preview: Rancho Buena Vista vs. San Dieguito Academy

The Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns will challenge the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

Rancho Buena Vista managed to keep up with Torrey Pines until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Rancho Buena Vista lost 5-2 to Torrey Pines. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Longhorns came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Falcons are ranked 245th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Dieguito Academy). They had just enough and edged Carlsbad out 5-4. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their one-goal performance the matchup before.

San Dieguito Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Rancho Buena Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.

Rancho Buena Vista skirted past San Dieguito Academy 2-1 when the teams last played back in January. Will Rancho Buena Vista repeat their success, or does San Dieguito Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
