Softball Recap: Granite City Comes Up Short

Granite City had lost seven straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 7-13 to make it eight. They came up short against the Quincy Blue Devils, falling 17-7. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly ten runs.

Christine Myers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Chloe Randolph, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Quincy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-15. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Quincy's side, Ivy Winter was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those five runs gave Winter a new career-high. Ariana Adorno was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Granite City will host Jersey at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Quincy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rock Island at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Rocks have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
