Basketball Game Preview: Liberty County Panthers vs. Cross Stingrays

The Liberty County Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Cross Stingrays at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Last Saturday, Liberty County strolled past Johnson with points to spare, taking the game 46-31.

Liberty County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lyric McIver, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. McIver has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Moore, who posted 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

Liberty County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cross). They blew past Bridges Prep 72-43 on Monday. The Stingrays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 20 points or more this season.

Cross pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Liberty County, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Liberty County didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Cross in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 47-43 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Liberty County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
