Softball Recap: Laporte Triumphs

Laporte's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the McGregor Mercuries by a score of 21-17. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

McKenna Lindahl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and 12 unearned) runs on 16 hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tatiyana Weikle was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylee Zubke, who got on base in three of her six plate appearances with six runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

Laporte's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for McGregor, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laporte will welcome Cass Lake-Bena at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McGregor, they will square off against Two Harbors at 4:30 p.m. on the 14th.
