Volleyball Recap: Wetumpka Indians vs. Montgomery Academy Eagles
Wetumpka suffered their biggest loss since September 4th on Thursday. They came up short against the Montgomery Academy Eagles, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.
While Wetumpka had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-19, 25-18.
Camryn Foote paced Wetumpka's offense, picking up five kills. Foote got some help from Cheyenne Boshell and her ten assists. Finally, Lillyan Trask kept Wetumpka's defense grounded, leading the team with nine blocks.
Montgomery Academy found their leader in freshman Elizabeth Campbell, who had ten digs and two assists.
Wetumpka's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Montgomery Academy, their win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 29-3.
Looking ahead, Wetumpka will head out to face off against Trinity Presbyterian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Montgomery Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Homewood on the 3rd.
