Football Recap: Matthew Myles and Andrew Santos Pace Dwyer Defense

Dwyer had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-7 to make it six. They came up short against the Palm Beach Lakes Rams, falling 20-0. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, Dwyer still got an impressive performance from Sylvio Joseph, who rushed for 140 yards while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.

Even if they lost, Dwyer's defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Matthew Myles and Andrew Santos, who racked up four sacks between them. Santos has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last three times he's played. Zacahri Millner was another major factor on D, making 14 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

As for Palm Beach Lakes, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.0 points on average over those games.

A big part of Palm Beach Lakes' win came down to the chemistry between Julian Ayala (*) and his top target Ryan Ferdinand. Ayala (*) threw for 199 yards and a pair of TDs while Ferdinand picked up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Dwyer will welcome Palm Beach Gardens at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Gators' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Palm Beach Lakes, they will square off against Palm Beach Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
