Basketball Recap: Rocky Mountain Prep SMART Takes a Loss

Rocky Mountain Prep SMART was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 71-43 defeat at the hands of the DSST: Conservatory Green Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Ocelotls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Hornets are ranked 127th).

Leading DSST: Conservatory Green to victory were Davon Allen and Kenny Van. Allen went 9 of 15 on his way to 21 points along with seven steals and five boards, while Van went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points along with seven steals and five boards. With that strong performance, Van is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Jones, who posted 14 points.

Rocky Mountain Prep SMART's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for DSST: Conservatory Green, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rocky Mountain Prep SMART will challenge DSST: Montview at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for DSST: Conservatory Green, they will face off against DMLK at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DSST: Conservatory Green is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season.
