Recap: Petrolia Pirates vs. Wichita Christian Stars
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Newcastle, the Petrolia Pirates were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They snuck past Wichita Christian with a 29-24 win. That's another feather in the cap for Petrolia, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Petrolia was led to victory by Zoie Bowers and Holland Horton. Bowers scored five points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Horton scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Horton also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
Petrolia has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. As for Wichita Christian, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Petrolia will be home for the holidays to greet Christ Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wichita Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Archer City at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
