Softball Recap: Central Magnet Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lavergne

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central Magnet). They were the clear victors by a 21-10 margin over the LaVergne Wolverines on Friday. The victory continues a trend for Central Magnet in their matchups with LaVergne: they've now won nine in a row.

Rachel Plondke looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Central Magnet got a massive performance out of Sophia Croasdaile, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Juliet Dasch was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Central Magnet kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Central Magnet's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for LaVergne, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Looking ahead, Central Magnet will head out on the road to face off against Pope John Paul II at 4:30 p.m. on April 7. As for LaVergne, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on April 7.
