Basketball Recap: Byers Takes a Loss

Byers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell to the Ashland Blue Devils 46-42. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Ashland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corderro Ayers, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tarrius Walls, who earned seven points and five rebounds.

Byers' defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Ashland, they moved to 4-8 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Byers will head out to face off against Myrtle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ashland, they will challenge Falkner at 7:31 p.m. on Friday. Falkner is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.
