Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers vs. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons

The Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers will head out on the road to challenge the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Mt. Pulaski is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Tuscola 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hilltoppers.

Meanwhile, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley suffered their closest loss since April 28th last Saturday. They fell just short of Tri-Valley by a score of 2-0.

Mt. Pulaski pushed their record up to 22-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.

Mt. Pulaski suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Hilltoppers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
