Baseball Game Preview: Foran Lions vs. Fairfield Prep Jesuits

Foran is 0-7 against Fairfield Prep since April of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Jesuits at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Foran proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Law 7-5. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Meanwhile, Fairfield Prep waltzed into their matchup on Monday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Grizzlies. The Jesuits might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Anthony Pavano looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Vinny Lombardo was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Ventrelle, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Fairfield Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive contests.

Foran's record now sits at 7-4. As for Fairfield Prep, their record is now 12-1.

Foran couldn't quite finish off Fairfield Prep when the teams last played on April 8th and fell 7-5. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
