Baseball Recap: St. James Takes Down Ranked North Myrtle Beach

St. James faced North Myrtle Beach in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Sharks skirted past the Chiefs 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sharks have posted since March 27th.

Dylan Victoria spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rome Derenzo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for St. James: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise.

St. James' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.
