Softball Recap: Wheeling Park Patriots vs. University Hawks
Wheeling Park had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 6-6 to make it four. They lost 13-4 to the University Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Patriots have suffered since March 20th.
Bryn Ernest was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
As for University, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.
On University's side, Maddie Campbell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Campbell was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.
In other batting news, Whitney Cox was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexi Elza, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple.
Wheeling Park wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-1 defeat against Logan on the 11th. As for University, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-0 loss against Jefferson on the 11th.
