Baseball Game Preview: Whittier Cardinals vs. Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves

The Whittier Cardinals will challenge the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

It was a proper cat-fight when Whittier duked it out with San Jacinto on Saturday. Whittier skirted past San Jacinto 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cardinals have posted since April 26, 2024.

Carl Collins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Jimenez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Wiseburn- Da Vinci waltzed into their match on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Saxons. While the Wolves didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Deklen Emmersen and David Holliday did most of the damage at the plate: Emmersen went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run, while Holliday scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Xavier Horton, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Wiseburn- Da Vinci pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Whittier, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
