Cord Sandberg threw for four touchdowns as
Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.) defeated
Cypress Bay (Weston, Fla.) 42-20 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Sandberg to
Kelvin Mcknight in the first quarter, the Hurricanes led 14-0 at the half.
Manatee expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Sandberg to
Marquel Hines.
The Lightning came in giving up 16.8 points per game this season. Cypress Bay struggled against the Bradenton school, which came in averaging 48.4 points per game.
A 21-0 Manatee victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss comes after Cypress Bay defeated Miramar 17-13 last week. The loss snapped CB's 3-game winning streak.
Manatee (6-0) goes up against Venice in a 7A District 10 game matchup next week, while Cypress Bay (4-2) locks horns with West Broward in a 8A District 12 game.
