McQueen's gameplan should be fairly simple when it faces Bishop Gorman (13-0) in the Class 4A state title game at noon Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium;

Stop Bishop Gorman all-everything senior running back Keola Antolin.

The mission might be simple, but actually doing the job is another story.

Antolin has plenty of credentials to make the Lancers' scratch their heads;

  1. Antolin averages 9.4 yards per carry and has 13 rushing touchdowns.
  2. He can catch the ball, averaging 29.6 yards per catch with four more touchdowns.
  3. If that wasn't enough, he has returned six kicks for scores, including a missed field goal.
  4. In addition to the 1,257 yards rushing, Antolin has averaged 35.1 yards per punt return and 43.6 on kickoffs.

Antolin, who rushed for 88 yards in the regional final win over Palo Verde last week, earned another honor Thursday as the area named him the Sunset Region Offensive Player of the Year.

McQueen advanced to Saturday's game thanks to a 34-20 victory over two-time defending state champion Las Vegas last week.

McQueen (13-1) scored three touchdowns during a five-minute span of the second period and never looked back. For Las Vegas, it was only its second postseason loss in 18 games since 2004.
