Decatur Central is 9-1 against Greenwood since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hawks will face off against the Woodmen at 6:00 p.m. Decatur Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Decatur Central made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mooresville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hawks fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. The match marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Decatur Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harlow Estes, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Maycee Hayman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Shelbyville hit Greenwood with a four-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Woodmen might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 14-2 to the Golden Bears, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss continues a trend for the Woodmen in their meetings with the Golden Bears: they've now lost eight in a row.

Tessa Hammons was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Greenwood's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Decatur Central, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Greenwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Decatur Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Greenwood, though, as they've been averaging 11.1 hits. Given Decatur Central's sizable advantage in that area, the Woodmen will need to find a way to close that gap.

Decatur Central took their victory against Greenwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
