Maloney strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the New Britain Golden Hurricanes. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Golden Hurricanes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Maloney had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-21.

Wesley Colebrook paced Maloney's offense, picking up 34 kills. Colebrook got some help from Galo Cadena and his 42 assists. Nathan Vitelli controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Despite the defeat, New Britain had strong showings from Joshua Ramales, who had 23 assists and three digs, and Liam Alape, who had 14 digs and two aces. Ramales is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 16 or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Maloney pushed their record up to 13-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for New Britain, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.

Maloney has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Newington on the 7th. As for New Britain, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Simsbury on the 7th.
