The South Florence Bruins will venture away from home to take on the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lower Richland will be up against a hot South Florence squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Bruins simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Wilson 35-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bruins' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Tigers are ranked 60th).

South Florence got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Messiah Jackson out in front who rushed for 123 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries, and also threw for 58 yards and one TD while completing 87.5% of his passes. Those 123 rushing yards gave Jackson a new career-high. Cameron James helped out on the ground, rushing for 150 yards and a rushing touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: South Florence was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 341 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 164 rushing yards in six consecutive games.
South Florence didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jewel Washington and Will Wilson Iil. South Florence got some further help from Terry Gordon: he picked up three sacks and made six total tackles.
Meanwhile, while Lower Richland put up some points on Friday, the same can't be said for Lakewood. The Diamond Hornets blew past the Gators 27-0. The Diamond Hornets haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
South Florence better keep an eye on Ziyear Yates. He was instrumental in Lower Richland's win, rushing for 62 yards and two touchdowns.
Lower Richland's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Isreal Brown with two sacks.
South Florence's record is now 7-1. As for Lower Richland, their record now sits at 6-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. South Florence has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 213 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lower Richland struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 149.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
South Florence strolled past Lower Richland when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 36-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
