Football Recap: Bayside Academy Admirals vs. Southside Panthers
Bayside Academy and Southside squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Bayside Academy had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Southside Panthers by a score of 26-24. The Admirals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2021.
Bayside Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Sam Cunningham led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Jack Wilkinson is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in Southside's side was Monroe Partin, who made 16 total tackles.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Latreyveon Davis, who threw for 324 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 102 yards on only eight carries. Derick Smith was another key receiver, picking up 125 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Bayside Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Southside, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Bayside Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 48-28 loss against Houston Academy on the 29th.
