Baseball Recap: Frontier Cougars vs. Belpre Golden Eagles

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Marys, Frontier was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Belpre Golden Eagles as they made off with a 29-3 victory. That 26-run margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.

Zerik Rinard made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Luke Mendenhall and Gage Douglas did most of the damage at the plate: Mendenhall got on base in all six of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI, while Douglas went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Douglas a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Boron, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and two RBI.
