Basketball Recap: Evangelical Christian Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 23-23 at halftime, Evangelical Christian was not quite Sarasota Christian's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell to the Sarasota Christian Blazers 54-49. The game marked the Sentinels' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Evangelical Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Quez Outten went 7 of 15 en route to 20 points along with seven boards and four steals. Outten is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Van Der Kooy, who posted ten points.

Sarasota Christian was led to victory by Ben Milliken and Randall Collins. Milliken went 8 of 14 from beyond the arc on his way to 31 points, while Collins went 5 of 6 on his way to 11 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Milliken is now averaging an impressive 15.9 points per game. Another player making a difference was Justin Brock, who put up 11 points.

Evangelical Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Sarasota Christian, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evangelical Christian will welcome South Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Evangelical Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season. As for Sarasota Christian, they will host Saint Stephen's Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sarasota Christian is facing Saint Stephen's Episcopal at the right time seeing as Saint Stephen's Episcopal is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
