Recap: Colorado Academy Mustangs vs. Forge Christian Fury
On Friday, the Colorado Academy Mustangs faced the Forge Christian Fury in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Colorado Academy fell just short of Forge Christian by a score of 57-54. Colorado Academy's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Colorado Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Clyde Love, who scored 18 points. Love continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jason Bratis, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Forge Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Levi Clark, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clark has scored all season. Owen Hovis was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Colorado Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Forge Christian, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colorado Academy will square off against Eagle Ridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Eagle Ridge Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Saturday. Forge Christian on the road again on Thursday and play against Manual at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. One thing working in Manual's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
