Baseball Recap: Mahanoy Area Victorious

Mahanoy Area barely beat Notre Dame the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Mahanoy Area was the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over Notre Dame on Saturday. The Golden Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Levi Terry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Mike Oblas was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Donovan Herman was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Mahanoy Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Notre Dame only posted a batting average of .118.

Mahanoy Area's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Notre Dame, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Mahanoy Area will face off against Southern Columbia Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Mahanoy Area will need to watch out since Southern Columbia Area has now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Notre Dame, they will take on Lincoln Leadership Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Notre Dame's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
