Softball Recap: Mount Vernon's Run of Ten Straight Wins Now Over

Mount Vernon dropped their record down to 11-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's ten-game streak of wins. They fell 14-11 to the Ferndale Golden Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 9-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Ferndale, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-9. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

For Ferndale's part, the team relied heavily on Kaelin Blakley, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most home runs Blakley has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sianna Bob, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mount Vernon is set to take on their familiar foe Lynden at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ferndale will face off against rival Anacortes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
