Baseball Game Preview: Hunterdon Central Red Devils vs. Ridge Red Devil

Hunterdon Central is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out on the road to challenge the Ridge Red Devil at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hunterdon Central is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Ferris on Saturday. The Red Devils' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 13-0 shutout.

Cole Jacobus looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Danny Contiliano, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Jason Cebula, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Hunterdon Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Ridge ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Randolph, sneaking past 6-4. The win was nothing new for the Red Devil as they're now sitting on five straight.

Ridge's record now sits at 6-1. As for Hunterdon Central, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Everything went Hunterdon Central's way against Ridge in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Hunterdon Central made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
