Baseball Recap: Richmond Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pendleton Heights, Richmond was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They skirted past the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos 4-2. That's more bragging rights for the Red Devils, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Tyrel Brown, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Richmond's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Corey Day was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Richmond is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lafayette Jefferson, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-11 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bronchos beat Richmond by a score of 10-0 later that day.
