Meanwhile, Milford pushed their score all the way to 60 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Rockwell by a score of 63-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Milford has suffered yet this season.
Despite their defeat, Milford saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carson Cheney, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Dotson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Milford were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
El Capitan/Centennial Academy's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points per game. As for Milford, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
El Capitan/Centennial Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Milford in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, sneaking past 53-51. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Milford's Trey Rose, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds.
