Basketball Recap: East Columbus' Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

If Red Springs wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played East Columbus, they should've done a better job of containing Malia Graham. The East Columbus Gators came out on top against the Red Springs Red Devils by a score of 29-19 on Friday thanks in part to Graham, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and five blocks. That's the most blocks she has posted since back in December of 2023.

The team also got some help courtesy of Mckenzie Spivey, who had nine points. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Red Springs lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Monica Washington, who put up six points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nakira Hunt, who posted five points.

The victory was the third in a row for East Columbus, bringing their record for this year to 5-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points per game. As for Red Springs, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

East Columbus will host East Bladen at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. East Bladen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59 points per game this season. As for Red Springs, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-41 defeat against Lakewood on the 14th.
