Volleyball Game Preview: Sauk Prairie Eagles vs. Edgewood Crusaders

The Sauk Prairie Eagles will head out to challenge the Edgewood Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sauk Prairie will be strutting in after a victory while Edgewood will be coming in after a loss.

Sauk Prairie took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Portage 3-0.

While Sauk Prairie won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 27-25, 25-15.

Sauk Prairie can attribute much of their success to Mackenna Murphy, who had 15 digs and one assist, and Bentlee Conway, who had 14 digs. That's the most digs Conway has posted over her last seven matches.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Edgewood's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to Onalaska.

While Edgewood was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-23.

Edgewood's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Sauk Prairie, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Sauk Prairie came up short against Edgewood when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
